The legal risks facing employers are great in number and complex in substance. Tom wisely navigates the many federal, state, and local laws, while respecting and achieving the operational needs and goals of his clients.
With over 35 years of experience, there are few labor and employment or employee benefits issues Tom has not confronted. Further, he litigates cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the country.
Tom’s broad-based labor and employment experience includes collective bargaining, labor contract administration, arbitrations, Labor Management Relations Act, OSHA, Railway Labor Act, administrative law (state agencies such as the Illinois Human Rights Commission, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the National Labor Relations Board, the United States and various state Departments of Labor), and Fair Labor Standards Act.
He also has extensive experience with civil rights and employment discrimination, ERISA, Labor-Management Reporting and Disclosure Act, WARN, Executive Order 11246 and OFCCP proceedings, Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988, Family and Medical Leave Act, and international labor and employment law, as well as general counseling.
Many of his client relationships have lasted for several years through achieving outstanding results and exceeding expectations on cost and value. Tom’s professional accomplishments are reflected by his membership in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and his top tier employment lawyer rating by Chambers USA (2003-2020).
Prior to joining Seyfarth, Tom served as a Law Clerk to Senior District Judge Robert A. Grant, United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.
