Lisa Siefert is a Shareholder in the Pittsburgh Office of GRB Law, an experienced litigator, Lisa advises and litigates on behalf of clients in the areas of labor and employment, public and private construction, personal injury, premises and product liability matters.
She has served as first- and second-chair counsel in both jury and bench trials and has handled dozens of arbitration hearings across Western Pennsylvania. Lisa is devoted to developing cohesive and captivating case theories and strategies aimed to resolve disputes efficiently and creatively. Her dynamic and passionate personality resonate with her clients, who consider her an articulate and resolute advocate for their interests.
Lisa’s employment counseling and litigation background is extensive. She works to proactively identify issues before they become lawsuits, and routinely advises clients on best practices for discipline, termination, compliance, training, and other workplace issues. When litigation is unavoidable, she defends employers claims of all kinds, including discrimination based upon age, race, gender, religion and national origin, along with issues involving disability and reasonable accommodations, harassment and retaliation. Lisa assists companies in developing and implementing policies and procedures, drafts employment handbooks, and prepares and litigates various types of business contracts, including non-compete agreements. She regularly appears in state and federal court, and has represented clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity, Pennsylvania Human Relations, and Civil Service Commissions. She also advises clients on matters related to unemployment compensation, OSHA investigations, and investigations by the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division.
Lisa has extensive experience litigating personal injury actions on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants, including cases involving wrongful death and survival claims. She frequently leverages her experience representing plaintiffs to advocate for and defend clients facing personal injury claims arising from car accidents, premises defects, and dangerous and defective products. Lisa accurately values cases and can quickly assess if a case is more appropriate for settlement or trial. She understands how deals come together and aims for early resolution of disputes, but helps clients effectively mitigate risk if litigation is inevitable. She has a proven track-record of brokering confidential settlements for a fraction of the amount in dispute.
Additionally, she negotiates and drafts construction contracts. She also advises and represents clients in complex construction litigation claims of design error, omission, delay, defective workmanship, and bond disputes. In addition to this work, Lisa advises and represents boards for multiple boroughs, townships, school districts, and municipal authorities. She has represented municipal clients in local agency hearings, ranging from school board hearings to hearings before the Civil Service Commission, as well as in prosecuting code enforcement violations, both at the magistrate and Court of Common Pleas levels. She is familiar with the Uniform Construction Code, and general code enforcement issues, and has obtained injunctions on behalf of clients to halt construction projects that violate local building and zoning ordinances.
